Prime Chimney Sweep & Repair is a Brooklyn-based chimney company serving all five NYC boroughs.

New York City has more pre-war chimney stock than any metro area in the country. Buildings constructed before 1940 dominate the landscape in Brooklyn, the Bronx, upper Manhattan, and Queens. Those buildings have lime mortar joints, clay tile flue liners, and chimney configurations designed for coal and wood — not natural gas. They behave differently than modern masonry. They need a company that works in them every week, not one that treats NYC like a standard suburban market with taller buildings.

Our Story
Prime Chimney Sweep & Repair launched in 2026 as a purpose-built response to NYC’s chimney service market.
The city has a specific set of chimney problems. Flat-roof buildings. Attached row houses with shared party walls. Pre-war masonry that requires mortar formulations matched to the original lime composition. Co-op boards that need documentation in a specific format. DOB permit categories that apply to some chimney work and not others. And a seasonal demand spike in late September and October — right before the heating season opens — when a single-crew company hits its scheduling ceiling fast.
Prime Chimney was structured from the ground up to operate at the scale those conditions require.
Ten technicians, dispatched from a single Brooklyn base, covering the full five boroughs. Twenty-four-hour emergency access on the same line used for routine scheduling. A 32-service scope that covers everything from a standard annual cleaning to emergency masonry stabilization after storm damage.

Our Standards
Every job follows the same quality baseline — regardless of service type or borough.
A few things that don’t change job to job:
- •Mortar type matching on masonry work. Pre-war brick requires lime-based mortar. Portland cement mortar is harder than the surrounding brick — that hardness causes the brick face to crack rather than the joint. We match mortar composition before anything is mixed.
- •Full perimeter assessment before any leak repair. The stain visible on an interior wall is not always directly above the water entry point. We check all four chimney faces and the crown — including the party-wall side on attached buildings.
- •Written condition documentation on every inspection. Verbal summaries aren’t useful for co-op boards, lenders, or renovation contractors. Every inspection produces a written record of what was found and what it means.
- •Camera scans when interior liner condition is uncertain. Visual inspection from the firebox has limits. When liner condition matters — for a real estate transaction, a change of appliance, or a Tier 3 renovation review — we run the camera and document what it shows.
- •Emergency materials on every vehicle. Storm damage and active leak calls can’t wait for a supply run. Patching and stabilization materials are stocked on every service vehicle so same-visit stabilization is always an option.
That’s the baseline. It applies on a $200 cleaning and a multi-day removal job equally.
